Souls Leave Jive Records

After months of problems between the label and the group, Souls has finally broken away from Jive Records' grip. Read About it HERE!

The official break happened April 1st. For various legal reasons, we were not allowed to share this up until now.

For many, this news may not come as a shock. It is no secret that Jive doesn't give many of its artists 'red carpet treatment'. For that matter, they don't give their artists much at all. So did Souls of Mischief feel after the release of their sophmore effort, No man's Land which was heavily slept on by Jive. To start things off, Jive released NML the very same day KRS-ONE and Spice 1 had dropped their albums (Coincidently, both KRS and Spice are also signed under JIVE Records! Doesn't make sense for 3 albums to all compete against each other under the same record label. . .). In addition, NML saw barely any promotion what so ever by Jive (A duty the record label is suppose to do). Even though a video for "Rock It Like That" was released, it saw absolutely no distribution. Among other financial and promotional problems, Jive was being straight-up assholes, for lack of a better term, in the treatment of Souls of Mischief. Hence, the crew saw fit to release itself from Jive's grip.
