Trying to Discover the Origins of tha 3-Eyed Face

Much mystery surrounds the origins of the 3-eyed face which is now symbolic of Hieroglyphics. Some believe it's the magical source behind Hiero's phat flows. Others believe the face and the movie, "Stargate" have a common bond (Yo, T! Remember that dude??!). In any case, here is what I was able to dig up on the 3-eyed face.

Back in tha day, the Hiero crew was known as The Mad Circle. However, WC and them took that name and published an album under it, so the Mad Circle evolved into Hieroglyphics. At that time, however, the logo for the Mad Circle resembled what is now the "Mad Face", synonymic with ONYX; It had two eyes, and looked pissed. But with the name change from The Mad Circle to Hieroglyphics, so came a change for the crew's logo. Del added an extra eye and made the mouth a straight bar, for lack of a better word. What was born is the power that you see fueling this page, as well as the rhymin' and producing skills that is Hieroglyphics. Hopefully, once this article is published, someone from the Hiero crew will come out with some new info. on the face that I will be able to update here! Stay tuned. . .

UPDATE! (February 16th)

This letter was submitted by Anonymous (That's the name in his email address!). Peep this shit out! We're gettin' DEEP!

"Bro, I think the face might have it's origins in something a little bit more spiritual, but it's just a hunch.

According to some old eastern religion, our spiritual self is in harmony when our "chakras" are in harmony. I learned this from some meditation classes that I used to go to, and I only went twice so all of this info. might not be completely accurate but the important stuff is. Anyways, a lot of people believe we have 7 chakras dispersed through our bodies, and the 6th chakra is the "third-eye". You may have heard of this, so called third-eye. Anyway,it is located in the middle of our forehead, and it is the most important chakra because it serves other purposes. It is supposedly the gateway to other dimensions, and psychic energy, and mind control, and only people who are completely in touch with their chakras are able to open this third eye. And you can do this by meditating, smoking weed and things [such as these]. That's about all I remember from my two sessions. But this isn't some kind of cult, or David Koresch following, it's an actual religion, and a lot of people follow it across the world. In fact Method Man makes reference to it on the song Shadowboxin' on Genius's album "My third-eye seen it comin' before it happened." Anyways, maybe Del or whoever just included the third-eye when they were designing the logo."

UPDATE! (February 5th)

In a letter written by Taggin T (Tagg), this interesting tid-bit came up. The following is a direct quote from Tagg's letter:

"You asked for more info on that 3 eyed face. I don't know if this means anything. But in history class I found that the phoenecian (a close relative of the ancient hieroglyphic writing) symbol for 8 is 3 dots (the three eyed face) with a straight line below it. When the number 8 is on its side, it is the symbol for infinity. Souls first album was 93 til' infinity. Coincidence? Peace Rory Tibbals AKA Taggin-T (Tagg)"

[Ed. Note-- At the time of Hieroglyphics' birth, there may have been only 8 members, thus the "8" that Tagg describes comes into play. . .More soon!] Whaddya'll think?? Peace!
