Review of Del At "D-Day" Party Phoenix, Arizona December 14th, 1996 8:00 PM By KTM
Alright well here goes, a much anticipated Hiero show: D-Day (Del-Day?) kicked off mad late. Anyway, in the hiphop room local Arizonan, DJ Confusion kicked things off, mixing and maxing mad hiphop joints. Then his crew came up: Supermarket. Most likely the best Arizona hiphop group out here. They kicked some writtens and then had a nice freestyle session. I picked up their tape for only 5 bones, if any of y'all want a copy let me know, I want to help them kids blow up. Well, before Del came on I had a chance to talk to Tajai, who was sellin' the gear you can find on this here page. I had to support and buy a Souls shirt since I slept the first time around. Much respect to Tajai for talking to fans and he discussed what heads were saying on the board. That kid is crazy nice. Then A+ stopped at the table to chat with fans along with Domino. Finally Del came out with Domino on the 1 and 2. Del (sober this time around in Arizona, see Halloween review) kicked some from the first and second albums. Mistadobalina (my fave), Catch a Bad One, You're in Shambles, Ahonetwo, Ahonetwo, Boo Boo Heads, In and Out, and a few others. Much respect to A+ for enhancing the show. No respect to those goddamn weak-ass mics, luckily I was up front, Del was screamin' his ass off. Del didn't let that shit bug him. I was talking to some guys in line who came from El Paso to peep Del. Word. He didn't disappoint. And to top it off he dropped a freestyle session with the mighty Tajai, they freestyled over Da La Soul's "Stakes Is High". As Del put it, "...other emcees get done, like burgers on a bun..." The crew then proceeded to greet fans at the shirt table. As for the rave aspect of the show, sorry, didn't stick around. Slammin' show, Del at his finest. Peace! (Watch y'all: When I talked to Tajai he said they're looking at February for the Family Album release. Possibly enhanced? Like Del, you better Check it Out.) -KTM, Kevin Murphy |
