About

Peace! My name is Yameen aka “Stinke.” I was the creator & webmaster of Hieroglyphics.com between 1995 – 2001 & the New Media Coordinator & founding partner of the independent hip-hop recording label, Hieroglyphics Imperium.

I created this site as an archive and educational resource to document one of the most important moments in the history of hip-hop collective, Hieroglyphics.

For a detailed albeit brief history of Hieroglyphics.com, click here.

After unceremoniously released from their respective major label recording contracts, hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics (Del the funky homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Casual, The Prose, Extra Prolific & Domino) created their own independent record label, Hieroglyphics Imperium in 1995.

Using the burgeoning internet & world wide web of the mid-1990’s, Hiero was one of the first music groups online. Hieroglyphics.com created a strong web presence, community and business model directly with fans, making history along the way as a pioneer and prototype. This website aims to recognize & record those achievements and progress.

Snapshots are an interactive time-capsule; a complete reproduction of how Hieroglyphics.com appeared throughout its many visual renditions.

Press chronicles the growth of Hiero Dot Com and the Hieroglyphics Imperium record label by archiving magazine articles, website content & videos about the group from an easily accessible central resource.

Features revisits content from the Hieroglyphics.com archives and presents it in a modern context with new enhancements. A modern spin on classic material.
